Well… Here We Go.
So, day one has come and gone and I am sitting here staring at the never-ending project that is “Protector’s Promise.”
The book started some 10 years ago now when I began to draw a world by hand rather than attempt to learn how modern online drafting tools work. A few years later, and I find the world of the Grove Protectorate, sitting within the D&D folder in which I had left it so long ago. And I start writing, the story of Pica and the rest of the Squad becoming something living within this figmentation on the page.
Honestly, it is an astounding feeling to look at it today, to revisit the score or so of drafts, references, and ideas that still pepper the hard drive like paints or charcoals or clay across an artisan’s table. And yet, I cannot tell you all just how much I am ready for this to be done, to really get moving on whatever comes next.
As it sits, I have spent the last two weeks editing and redrafting. I have spent the last two days learning what it means to self-publish online in 2023. I have a website, and a Ko-Fi! So that is something!
